HELLO!!! My name is Janay Strickland and I would like to welcome you and your child to the new school year. This is my 12th year teaching and my 4th year here at Handley Elementary School. I am originally from New Orleans, LA. After Hurricane Katrina, some of my family and I relocated here to Garland, TX. Some of my family still lives there and I love to go home to visit them. I am a PROUD member of the WHO DAT NATION!!! :)
I love music and I love to sing and dance.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. I have also obtained my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Literacy from the University of Texas at Arlington. I am looking forward to helping your child reach his/her full potential this year. We will have many opportunities for academic growth and learning and I am excited to be a part of your child’s educational progress.
